Trans & Queer Yoga Anyone?
"For 75 minutes, we will practice breathing, yoga poses and guided meditation, followed by tea and snacks in the lobby. This class is open to gender non-conforming people, transgender and queer folks, and the friends they bring. Wear whatever you feel comfortable wearing, so long as you can move easily," according to a info piece being circulated by Courtney Frierson.
Classes are scheduled to begin March 24, at Barefoot Studio West, 8501 Pinnacle Valley Road in Little Rock. Each participant will enjoy a sliding fee scale from $4 to $12.
Frierson's bio acknowledges Courtney Frierson is an Arkansas Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a yoga therapist. As founder of Sat Nam/True Self Yoga Therapy, PLLC, Courtney utilized yogic techniques therapeutically with individuals, couples and families at Little Rock Yogis.
Courtney is now delighted to bring her private practice into the Wellspring Renewal Center family, where she shares Wellspring’s vision to “create a welcoming, safe space where healing happens.”
Courtney, who is a native Arkansan, earned her Master’s Degree of Social Work from University of Arkansas at Little Rock after receiving her Bachelor of Arts at Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, Georgia where she studied Political Science and Women’s Studies.
Subsequent dates for the sessions will be April 26 and May 24th. The flier also states that half of the proceeds of the sessions will be donated to LGBTQ groups in Arkansas. Now that's an interesting fundraising twist that will warrant more monitoring. Stay tuned to COP 24/7 for more updates and information.
