The Mondy Post UP

Affordable Care Act Enrollment Countdown

COP 24/7 has been an ardent supporter as well as a source to direct individuals and businesses to local efforts to educate and enroll participants into the new health care program. At this post time,
there are 8 days and counting to the March 31, 2014 deadline as we also recognize the 4th anniversary of the passage of the Affordable Care Act, March 23, 2010.

Executive Producer of COP 24/7, C. Mabin will join Arkansans for Care to mark the ACA year long milestone today at 2 pm at the Central Arkansas Library, 100 South Rock. The event will feature point persons and in-person assister's from various non- profit organizations contracted to fulfill outreach and enrollment assistance across Central Arkansas.

According to a press release from the agency, the meet up will focus on the final enrollment push, recap the positive effects and next steps in the enrollment process. Arkansas uniquely expanded Medicaid through its Health Care Independence Program which purportedly has enrollments topping 100,000 mark.  The program commonly known as the "private option" will offer qualified individuals  insurance cards from their private health plan issuers. Private Option enrollees will use their private insurance cards to access medical services.

In addition to the final enrollment, the recent legislative session was hotly negotiated with numerous concessions offered via House Bill 1053 which also included a provision that regulated the Arkansas Insurance Department ability to allocate , budget, expend or utilize any appropriations for advertisement, promote or encourage enrollment in the marketplace or the Health Care Independence program. Also through this measure, local contractors will have to cease ACA operations at the conclusion of their independent contracts. Stay tune to COP 24/7 for more updates and information as the final deadline approaches.
